Hey all,

I have an 06 3.7 auto, I am taking it in to the dealer tommorrow to get it looked at for noise that I hear coming from the engine/tranny...

They are also fixing something in the front suspension too.

There are a couple of noises I hear 1. is when I first start the truck a knock from under the truck when its cold, like a loose bearing or something it only does it when it hasn't been started for a few hours and once i get going I don't hear it any more.

The other noise is happens pretty much all the time, the engine click regularly, but especially when under load. One road I drive on the speed limit is 25 mph and when on that the truck shifts to the point the tach is reading 1600 rpm and the engine is constantly clicking.  Lifters maybe?

What do you guys think?  I have only owned this truck since December.

Thanks in advance....

Doesn't sound good is the least I can say. The knocking I couldnt tell ya with out listening to it. The clicking could be  lifters, or you might have an exhaust manifold leaking. I can't imagine you having a lifter sticking but its possible. What is the reason the truck was previously sold back? Was there prior problems someone forgot to mention? I am assuming you bought it used.

two options on the clicking. around the welds for the manifolds has a small leak, or could be a fuel injector. some of the are really loud

Yes I bought the truck used... the dealer said the guy wanted a bigger truck and bought a Quad cab Ram...  but who knows if that is true or not...

The truck only has 23500 on it, just seems very early to be having problems.  At least the dealership gave me a lifetime Engine, tranny warrenty though..  So I guess it should be covered.  Just annoying.  I have to leave it overnight so hopefully Ill get some good news about it tommorrow..

OK, brought it to the dealer on Thurs and had it back on Friday afternoon, they said they heard a small exhaust leak but that was it, said they had to replace a seal.  They said to drive it for a while and the seal would expand and the noise would stop, so I took it back and now it makes more noise than when I put it in.

Also just this morning it threw a check engine light at me.....  so guess its back to the dealer again on the way home...

it ussually take 4 to 6 visits to a dealer to get things fixed. Funny if you go to a local shop it takes 1 trip.

Went to the dealer last night, they said its the catalitic converter that is making all the noise.  Tech said its going bad and rattling around so I need to bring the truck in today and they should have to part I need and will replace it....

At this rate I think I will end up with a mostly new truck by the time i'm done.....
