Has anybody modified their headlights to strobe back and forth like a police car? My friend told me it would be just a relay, but I went to an electrical distributor, and they had no clue where I'd start.

Strobes on a car are completely legal in most states, provided that they are turned on ONLY when the vehicle is parked. Same applies for underbody neons.

yes but i'm thinking worst case senario he didn't say how he planned on hooking them up and i could just see an ill placed toggle switch...like in my g/f's car where my knee always hits it(good thing its for the fogs) and get arrested by a cop having a bad day for impersonating a police officer or some crap like that

Nothing wrong with warning a guy, cant fault you for that. However, alot of people dont bother to read or find out about local laws like that. Strobes/underbody neons are illegal to be turned on while in a moving vehicle for that very reason (impersonating an officer, emergency vehicle). They are allowed to be installed and be turned on/operating while a vehicle is parked. However, they are illegal altogether in some states so definitely check your local laws!!!!!

in that case i kno if u wanna do it cheap there are two ways both suck....autozone has headlight bulbs that strobe in their sport compact section..thats way one...way two is also in that section they sell little bulbs that strobe with a controller buy this then cut the bulb off and run the wires into ur headlights...i'd personally go with part one....but they also burn out quickly

In most cases with stobes and under neons {which I have the led neons in red} they just use them for shows like I do . I would never have strobes though.

I dont think strobes are legal to drive with anywhere. That would scare the H out of peopla at night when you pull up behind them. Hey if I had them and was in a hurry at night (since I work nights) If I was coming up on a slow person I would start flashing them so they think I was a cop and GET THE HE!! OUT MY WAY! LOL that would be nice.

are they tied in with ur blinkers? is so check ur brake lights...my blinkers in the front and the arrow would spaz n i thought it was a wiring issue because if i left my headlights on and walked around the car all the bulbs would be on and if i hit the alarm all the bulbs would flash and my 4 ways flashed normally till i looked behind me one night and braked and my brake light was out even though its the same bulb....

if your led is blinking really fast you need to get this thing they sell at autozone they put it right next to the leds they sell. im at a loss of words for what its called but it looks like a ceramic rectangle block with one wire comming out each side. it gets tied in somewhere to regulate your voltage since leds take less power than regular bulbs. ill repost with the name tomorrow if you havent found them at the store by then.

For anybody else who's interested..
The part you need is called a Wig-Wag Headlight Flasher. They're made by companies like Whelen, or SHO-ME,and you can find them at Public Safety stores and websites.
