Whysay people looking for an edge on mpg aren't doing their maint? What if, just maybe, somebody did everything they were supposed to an were just trying to squeeze every mpg they can. I knew a V8 woulnd't be an economy car, and mine has 3.92 gears and AWD, so i am pretty sure i knew what i was getting into. I put a fan on the other day, and this summer when money starts coming in (comissioning into the Air Force as a 2LT) i will buy the TB and possibly headers. I also have a trueflow intake and the better plugs and now going 70on the highway i get about 21 mpg. With all my mods i have save nearly 4 mpg so far.

I was just throwing this out there to see if anyone had thought of it, I got my answer so thank you. Its a bad idea because of the computer and a wobble that may develop at highway speed.

Wow, i just summarized 3 days and 15 posts into one sentence. the rest is just insulting people smarts and bickering.

Thanks to those who answered my question, and those who feel thneed to put down people for wanting a little better MPG need to get over it.

EDIT: Spelling and typing errors

How are we instulting peoples (your) smarts?  This is an open forum for people to express opinions and ideas.

So if you want a yes or no, ask it that way.  If you want to get a feel for how people think then pose the question the way you did.   If you dont want to hear about how others are getting better mileage,  dont ask about mileage.

Also,  maybe using the search function will answer some questions.  Your AWD question was unique,  but I dont know how many times I have seen the MPG this or MPG that thread.

I am not trying to be an ass,  but if you cant take what people say in a constructive way...  maybe you shouldn't ask the questions that will get constructive responses.

I went back and read the entire thread,  nobody put anyone down, insulted anyone or called any names.

I am glad you can be a smart ass. "Wow, i just summarized 3 days and 15 posts into one sentence. the rest is just insulting people smarts and bickering."

Quote the insults and bickering.

The idea of saying someone should just do their maint is insulting. Obviously people care about their vehicles if they are on here, so why even mention that unless there is a particlar question on maint?

And if you noticed i only asked about the shaft removal for MPG the other stuff was brought up by others.

I thought this thread was fine until someone decided they needed to state some obvious crap that had nothing to do with the question at hand.

I guess it was a bad attempt at some sarcasm, it just seems like all threads on here devolve into MPG discussions lately, and with 3.60 gas where i live, i can see why.

EDIT: I am very happy with the good responses to my posed question, only have issues with assholes who eel the need to say asinine and obvious stuff that in no way contributes to the discussion at hand.

well, even though "maintenance" is a logical assumption for most people...  How is anyone supposed to know that you (and by you I mean anyone) does it and follows the maintenance schedule's?

Last time I checked,  switching to a non OEM plug was not part of the owners manual.

The fact that you get pissed because someone said to keep up on maintenance kind of blows me away.  Who gets pissed if someone says to do your maintenance,  if you do in deed do it?

If you havent noticed,  we have to state the obvious a lot around here.  Why should this thread be any different?

What if someone was reading this thread and didnt do the proper maintenance to their truck?  Are they supposed to just know it?     Just because you started a thread, doesnt mean every reply is to you.

Sorry, but maint is beyond obvious i would hope. And nobody asked about maint. and MPG, so who was that towards. I have been reading on here a long time and it just seems that it makes no sense for someone to write that if thats all they have to say.

It's stupid to complain about it but goddamn its stupid to write down. If i said i tried not changing my oil and deflating tires maybe i could that understand that comment.

yes,  it is retarded to say...  but there are retards out there.  We have had a few...  so I can see why it was put down.  I dont want to sound like an ass,  but I often do.   I am not trying to give you a hard time,  but it just seems like thats how its turning out.

heres a little MPG tip for everyone.  RPM's go up,  GAS goes down...

Well you'd hope maintenance is beyond obvious but that's not always the case with everyone.  You do your maintenance so that should not have bothered you, but maybe later someone finds this thread through a search who doesn't keep up on their maintenance very well.  That comment would be useful to them and maybe they'd start trying harder to keep the vehicle maintained.  The strength of a forum is two-fold, first you have the members themselves who are (hopefully ) helpful and then you have the vast amount of information which comes from member discussions such as this thread.

Try telling that to the people who use regular dino oil and wait 10,000, 15,000, or 20,000 miles between oil changes... the people who never check their tire pressure (which makes a world of difference on mpg), check filters...

To some regular maintenance means maing sure their wiper blades are fresh, they have enough washer fluid, and they fill up with gas all the time...

It sounds weird, but you;d be surprised how many people don't know what, "regular maintenance" means.
