Alright a buddy of mine sent me this photo of the new 2005 Dodge Dakota. Now I am risking my butt here since it is under embargo status... but I'll show you.. Take a look before DCX makes it be taken off the site!</P>

Just remember there will be no 5.7L HEMI "MAGNUM" V-8 in the 2005 Dakota lineup, maybe 2006 (SRT-8 model). Now the Dakota will get a 4.7L HO "MAGNUM" V-8 from the Grand Cherokee Overland. Thats 265 horsepower folks. Regular, Club (w/ suicide doors), and Quad Cab models will be available.</P>

Off of the rear pic, get a hint what is in store for the Ram in 2005/2006 refreshing I was telling you about, about changing the rear a bit!</P>

hmm i've always felt the dakota looks like a shrunken ram, but
nonetheless, i like the new style, i really like the rear of the truck,
those taillights look good on the body, and the emblem right under the
handle...looks good.

redriderbob
01-31-2004, 08:54 PM
Nope, the 2005 Dakota is on the current generation platform that has been revised. Durango now has it's own platform which is 15% larger than the pervious one, and is about the size of Tahoe and Expedition now. Ram currently does not share its platforms w/ anyother vehicles.</P>

I think i saved the interior pictures on my computer at home, I'll see if they are there when I get home from college (around 1:30-2:00pm)! The interior shares very similar looks to the new Durango and even has the same intrument gauges... if that helps a bit!</P>

allpar.com accidently released these pictures of the Dakota's interior and then took them off their site. I was lucky enough to save them... however they are still under embargo status... but as far as I know this is the only site that has these posted right now... enjoy...</P>

A lot of talk over at the allpar.com forums about the $16,000 M-80 taking the production regular cab Dakota's place! that could be why, so they don't conflict the cost of one another since they are built on the same platform.</P>

DCX is not producing the reg cab dakota any more because they can't give them away. Warren truck builds about 1000 a month. Compare that to 18000 quad cabs and 10000 ext cabs. As of right now the m-80 is doa. Chrysler dosen't want to spend that kind of money on a loss leader. I can't wait to drive a 4.7HO myself. I own a 2002 ram quad w/a 4.7. Also remember 4.7 to be redone for 2006 rumored around here to be about 300 horse. 2005 DAK looks great!!</P>

HEMI an american legend, now built in MEXICO. Buy american buy a 4.7 built with pride by Mack Avenue Engine in Det. Local 51.</P><edited><editID>jgralka</editID><editDate>38021.557025463</editDate></edited>

No matter who got them first, I've been reprimanded for it and I don't like that. That's all... :) So, all who post pictures found on other sites, please leave the link on the picture or the copyright... whatever it is. :) THANKS!

No Dakota SRT-8 details have been given out just yet... Dodge is too busy trying to get this truck out to market, right now. I have no real idea why the HO has no manual. But the 5.9L V-8 in the current generation Dakota never had a manual, as well as the HO offered in current Grand Cherokee Limited and Overland lineup.

I don't like those mirrors, but that is the only thing that I don't like about the new Daks. I can't wait until they are released so I can really see it in real measurement. the Tremic T-56 behind that 4.7L HO, a forced air induction hood, and slap on a SRT-8 badge and now you've got yourself a pretty bad truck.

New Dakota: Bigger, More Powerful

Dodge says it's the biggest and best of the mid-size trucks with the new 2005 Dodge Dakota, a redesign of which debuted Wednesday. The new Dakota will go on sale this fall, offering the only V-8 in compact truck segment. It gets brand-new sheetmetal and a new fully boxed frame, new front and rear suspensions and a pair of V-8 engines. Dodge says the new Dakota is 3.7 inches longer and 2.7 inches wider than before, and retains its 7000-lb towing capacity. The standard engine is a 3.7-liter Magnum V-6 with 210 horsepower; a 4.7-liter V-8 has 230 horsepower and the new High Output Magnum V-8 will sport 250-plus horsepower, Dodge says. The Dakota will only come as a four-door: in Club Cab configuration the doors are rear-hinged, and in the Quad Cab front-hinged. Dual-stage front airbags and an occupant-sensing system for the passenger-side front airbag are standard, while side-curtain airbags are an option.

Forget about it.....all you need is the Reg. 4.7 with the 6-speed. You can buy the 4.7 HO intake and overhead cams and instull them. Thats the only difference between the 4.7 and the 4.7 HO......and maybe the computer, because I believe the H.O takes 93 Oct fuel.
