I'm interested in the 05 dakotas, but so far most rumors say it will not be available with a hemi. dissapointing. With the lighter weight of the dakota the hemi would make the dakota one faaaast truck. Supercharge it and throw in a six speed manual and it would be hard not to buy it. Anyone have information contrary to what I've heard. Guess I'll just enjoy my 03 for a while.</P>

well, if a 4.7 will fit...why not stuff a 426 crate (the REAL HEMI) in the bay on your own?...might want to check the dimensions...or has that already been done?
My local dealer told me that 05 dakotas (4 door version) and the 300 m will have the hemi in it......Did not ask if it were only four drs. or if it will be detuned or anything.........thought id pass it on!! <edited><editID>lawntycoon</editID><editDate>38018.4657986111</editDate></edited>
i was lookin in to getting the akota quad cab this last month and the local dealer told me the same thing that it will be in the 4 door dakotas and possibley in thestander cabs might be an add onoption
I read on this site that the top engine for the '05 Daks was only going to be the 4.7HO, but that puts out more than the 5.9L ever did, from the factory of course. 260hp I think is what it is. That'll be pretty sweet too, I know the 230hp 4.7L with the 3.92s is pretty decent, I like it a lot, you throw another 30hp on there now that's thinking. Also you'll probably be able to make it around 285hp with an air intake system and exhaust. Then there are many more mods that can be done to push over 300hp <IMG src=smileys/smiley4.gif border="0">.
OK, so far... Chrysler Group press releases say the 5.7L HEMI "MAGNUM" V-8 will not be in the Dakota's lineup for 2005. However a 250+ horsepower 4.7L HO "MAGNUM" V-8 (currently found in the Grand Cherokee Limited and Overland models) will be the top optional motor. DaimlerChrysler has no word out, nor are there any inside rumors about a HEMI powered Dakota yet. I wouldn't doubt however to see the 5.7L HEMI "MAGNUM" V-8 to appear in the 2007 model year. That way if sales start slipping, they have something to boost them up. Also, I would expect a SRT-8 Dakota somewhere down the road, but not soon.
lawntycoon, as for your dealer saying this about the Dakota and 300M... salesman don't know squat anymore about future vehicles... all they are is about getting you in a Chrysler, Dodge, or Jeep vehicle in which they know hardly anything about. The 300M has been discountinued... they don't even build them anymore... the 2004 models on the lots now are the ones that are left... the 300 Series based on the LX platform which is rear wheel drive, will get a HEMI... only available on Chrysler 300C models (not including the Dodge Magnum RT models [thats RT not R/T models]). The cars will get displacement on demand... and will have 345 horsepower and 390 ft-lbs of torque (Chrysler 300C) and 340 horsepower and 390 ft-lbs of torque (Dodge Magnum). They also have a govened top-speed of 153mph.
