I need the forum members assistance to identify the reason why the ESP light appears in the dash everytime I accelerate with the front wheels turned either right or left. This also happens while driving into curved way. It feels as to be preventing to accelarate or so.

I have been into three different dealrships and two suspension/brakes shops and noone has been able to recognize the problem.

The car is almost stock, with the exeption that I changed to 20" Ram 1500 wheels and tires and Bilstein shocks all around.

Please help me, as this is the wife's car and she's always carrying my two sons plus friends.

Thanks

AT

I have been doing some research on this issue. The problem might be that I changed the stock wheels and tires for a set of OEM Ram 1500 20" wheels with OEM tires Goodyear Wrangler HP 275/60R20.

Using the dealership scanner, through the ABS module (which it was said to control also the ESP) there are some options to choose different wheel size options other than 16" and 17", as for 2006 models the 20" wheels were not an option and there is no way to recalibrate the sensor to this size wheels.

It is no way to change the car setting as the scanner reads through the VIN number and get the specific car/model conditions.

Do someone has had this same problem installing larger wheels/tires on their Durangos? Are there any alternatives or ways around to this situation?

The problem I think I have now is the sensor is reading the wheels to go slower because the larger size than stock, at such moment the ESP function try to resolve the problem affecting the driving when the steering wheel is turned.

Please comment. I am concerned about this situation been dangerous for the family.

Thanks,

AT

Sounds like you are on the right track. If it wasn't doing it before you put the tires on and then all of a sudden started doing it then that's probably it.

ain't that what esp was supposed to do kick in when accelerating in corners to keep from losing control of the vehicle
