-Hi I have a 94TT and I need some new turbos, Mine are old and leaking so its buring a lot of oil. -I was wondering what kind of turbos I can get for an upgrade. Im looking at all these turbos online and there are so many, I dont know which ones would be direct replacement or which would fit but need something else done. -I want some thing that will give me at least 400 to the wheels, I know i would also need to upgrade other things for this, I see a lot of the evo III big 16g turbos, are they good, but expensive for thr whole turbo kit on 3sx. -I just need a quick guide on what kinda turbos would fit or how to know? ---Another thing is I went on 3SX and saw the TD05 Evo III 16g turbo upgrade kit for $2600 is that a direct bolt on and is that to expensive, Is there anything cheaper? Who ever has the patince to answer this thank you so much!!!

i was actually going to send you to 3sx when i seen the thread title, but sence you checked, it is pretty much the best way to go. I think i seen 16g turbos pop up on ebay once in a while. Also mitsubishi TD05. You don't have to buy them from 3sx if you can find cheaper elsewhere. Pretty much all the parts for these cars are usually expensive and decent turbo's start out around $600 a piece. Pretty much all turbs on 3sx website wil fit. When upgrading turbo's especially if motor has a lot of miles it is always recomended to freshen up the block. that's about all i can say, so maybe somebody who done turbo upgrade can chime in

ok thanks a lot, I heard a lot of people say the only thing is that it is a pain to put on. Also what do you mean freashin up the block in what way, cuz I have 130k miles on it. I had a major tune up done, checked all the computers and compression, changed spark plugs, and have a walbro 255 fuel pump. other then all that I pretty much think I will get that kit hope my engine can handle it, what else besides that kit would I need to support that upgrade?

By freshing up the block i really mean a rebuild. Get all new seals and ring. If going bigger turbos and more boost forged pistons wouldn't hurt. But if motor is healthy and runing good should be fine. To support it is always nice to get good exhaust, intake to open up air flow, and extra fuel.

Ok sounds good, if I get that kit and I have already fuel pump, intake, and a converted exhaust to single with test pipe no cat, everything else is stock. how much boost on that set up sould I run or how much would be safe before getting all the other stuff like injectors and intercooler?

geting a good intercooler is always a plus, and with any turbo upgrade i think it's a must. what kind of a budget are you really looking into? Because you get big turbos, the intercooler, then find out that you need to upgrade the motor, next thing you know you geting new clutch and beefing up the drivetrain. I think you can take stock new turbos like td04-9b to get up to about 12 PSI relatevely safely. Also there is a guy on 3si selling TD04L 13Gs and TD04L 15Gs turbos for $1224 and $1425.

If you don't have one already, get a datalogger.

hey the stealth is back, welcome and thanks for responding guys. So do you guys think that I should get that kit, with what I have now and run low boost and slowly get other stuff. or get those turbos that the guy is selling on 3si, can I run those with out any mods or is it the same, Id have to get all that other stuff anyways. because that kit is cheap for what you get and I have a new clutch also i forgot to mention, but thats not really a big thing. I know I have to get a boost controller and intercooler, also a datalogger, and injectors, but can i run the set up on low boost untill I get all that?

If it were me, I would get all the supporting mods first, then worry about bigger turbo's/more boost. You start upping the boost on an old(er) engine, you run a much higher risk of blowing something...just my 2 cents.

Ok one last thing, If I do get the kit install it, can I just run stock boost untill I get the other mods I need? I just dont want to spend money on some smaller turbos and then later get the bigger turbos. the reason is I need turbos first is because its leaking and buring oil. Also If I get the other turbos 13g's or 15g's do I have to upgrade the same way as for the evo 16g's, or is it small enough for stock replacement. I wana get this kit becuase I go to school for automotive and in the summer Ima have an engine class and I can do it all there for free instead of paying to get it installed. so basically if I get the kit can I run it stock boost until I get the mods with out messing anything up? Thank you so much for your help guys!

You'd be better off running less boost or wastegate pressure (which is about 6 lbs normally). Bigger turbo's will flow more air...

so if I get the bigger turbos and run stock boost, it will still flow more air because of the bigger turbine, so will it just run more lean then. And whats the stock boost on a 94tt I never knew

You know what I thought about it and you guys are right why risk the engine, Ima just get a little smaller turbos. I was wondering since I need new turbos, which ones should I get then, with the turbos ima get the injectors and exhaust and boost controller. Already have fuel pump, intake, and clutch. So i was wondering what I can get for now thats reasonable for me to handle. I had a major tune and the compression is fine. Where can you find those turbos? I was also wondering if the Tanabe concept G blue was a good choice, or is there something better that you guys prefer? I like something with good flow but also a nice agressive deep sound.
