man am i pissed, so i was just driving into work friday morning and before i even got 1/4 mile away from my house my RPMs and all my gauges dropped. my truck shut off, so then i tried to start it but it would just crank but not start. so i got out and i looked under my truck and the biggest puddle of oil was there. i figured it shot out real fast cuz you can see spatter all around. i thought it was just my oil pan gasket cuz it was a little leaky but everyone tells me that a blown gasket wouldnt have done it. can someone please tell me what happened?

i didnt really listen for anything cuz i wasnt thinking. no i dont have any pictures. well my oil pan has oil all over it but i think thats from where it was just leaking, my grandpa told me to look for a hole in the pan but i havent got the chance to look at it that much.  i ask the mechanic in the garage that i work at, he said its probably the rear engine seal, but i dont trust him cuz he is a Cadilac mech..  as soon as get home and check it out somemore ill be able to put more info up, but as for now this is it.

a hole in the pan would mean that it had thrown a connecting rod, witch is why i was asking if it was making a clunking sound. hopefully you can get some more info and we can help ya out. and what engine is in it?

yea, that should be the rear seal, but that should not make your truck not run, just leak oil...
