My '07 Charger (5.7L) stalls out now and then while in drive, idling at a light, w/ foot on the brake. Right before it stalls, the rpm's fluctuate up/down, and lurches slightly. Dealer cannot re-create it.  They attached a flight recorder to monitor codes, but we will see.  I use it for work, and off duty.  Only 18,000k....... can anyone offer help?

I have experienced the same items. Mine has only died once and that was after a hard uphill pull to a light.  The best way I could describe mine would be a surge. It actually feels like someone has tapped my bumper from behind. I've pulled over 3 times now just to make sure someone hasn't. I have a very good relationship with the service manager. When I dropped it of last time for an oil change I mentioned the surge and then mentioned the fact that it died on me at a light.
He said they checked for codes and didn't see any but did a reflash anyway. That was 2500 miles ago and I haven't had any issues since the reflash. I now have 18k on the clock. The majority of my driving is highway.

Please post and let us know what black box says.

Garry

Thanks for the info.  The dealer just took off the flight recorder today.  From what I've read, it may need a reflash also, but they say there are no TSB's for the car regarding that problem. I will let youa al know.  Thanks again for the input.  Andy

Thanx for the info.  I also thought it may be that, but it has even stalled on 100 octane racing fuel.  But it could still be it, thanx again for the help, as any input is welcome.  Andy

07 R/T with the same problem. Come to a stop at a light and the RPMs drop a little bit and it feels like it's about to kill.  Then kicks back up and idles normal.  Also feel the surge a little bit at times.   I had an 04 Chrysler Sebring that did almost the exact same thing.  After a long drive at a high rate of speed (interstate) when I got off at an offramp and came to a stop it would start to idle rough for a few seconds and then was fine...it even killed on me a few times when it was idleing rough.  When pulling into a parking spot it would some times surge up almost causing me to bump the car in the oppisite parking space.  There ended up being a TSB for the computer programming to be updated and that fixed the problem.  I had to search for the update myself and tell the dealer to go look for it.  They had sugested (before I found the TSB) that I needed my fuel system serviced which happen to be their special of the month, $150 and that MIGHT fix the issue.  How about doing a little research and being SURE to fix the issue.  Sorry went off and had to vent.

This is probably the same thing but they can't fix it until they have a TSB and know exactly what to update.  :-(

Hey Scott06,
Thanx for the info, I just got done searching TSBs, and can't find the specific one for that problem.  Tommorow I am going to the service manager directly.  This is supposed to be Honolulu's 5 star, but all they tell me is they can't find anything.  They better find something tommorow....like a TSB that applies.   I allready started the Lemon Law process......thanx again, Andy..........Aloha

Well I sure hope you find out something good Andy.  Let us know what they tell you, good or bad, so it's one less step for the next guy (or gal) that looks up "R/T rough Idle" on the forum.

I must say Bravo to this site and others like it.  I have found the answer to TONS of questions from everything from my car and truck down to my PDA smartphone(other site).  These places are GREAT!.

I haven't had any issues since my last oil change and reflash, 3.5k miles. I'm wondering if it might be a gas tank issue. I haven't had any issue running full, the times it has acted up have been on a lower tank. I run full to kerrville but on my return trip I hit El Paso at around 1/4 of a tank and I have only had this issue in El Paso....Interesting.

I was told to clean and/or replace the EGR valve? I had the same problem once or twice on my Dodge Ram. It never happened again, after I posted the topic. You can search that thread on Ram 3rd Gen. It may just a break in thang, as in breaking in your vehicle. Because, like I said previously, the problem occurred in the first 10k miles and hasn't returned. It's been a year or so.

My car has about 15,000 miles on it and is still doing it.  A car like this should not have to "break in" anything when it comes to sensors and the engine idleing rough and stalling.  Besides, beam3215 who started this thread is at 18,000 miles which should be well past the "break in" period.  Just agrivates me that this is the 2nd DC vehicle I've owned that did this.  Maybe it's me...oh wait that won't work...it MUST be my wife driving it since both were her cars.  Yeah that sounds better.

Hey guys,
i had the PCm re-flashed about 10 days ago, so far so good.  It shifts completely different, and is much more responsive on the throttle.  The rpm's are quite a bit higher.  At lights while idleing, rpm's would slip below 500.  Now it is about 650 - 700. No rough idle or stalls / near stalls.  Thanx for all the advice / input.  I will monitor this thread.  Pass the info along if u know anyone else w/ this problem..............Now I can get started w/ other things, like Stage 2 Suspension w/ sway bars, headers and exhaust, Quaife Differential, cam, tuner kits, SRT-8 rims/tires, ect.............

do you know what the dealer flashed it with?  I know if I go there and tell them to flash it they will probably not do it right.  Do you maybe have a copy of the paperwork you can say what they did.  I'm just trying to avoid any BS they might throw at me.
