Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum.
I bought a 2002 Durango about 7 months ago, it's got a 4.7 and the 5-45RFE transmission.
I'm looking for any ideas on fuel economy improvements for my truck.

I woukd recommend pulling the plugs and going with Champion Truck, Regular, or Iridium plugs only. A K&N drop in air cleaner and bring your air in from the front for true cold air/ram air. Cat back exhaust to 3" would help as well.

As Hydra says, if your plugs have more than 30k them, its time for a new set. How many miles on your rig??

Your D should have new tranny, t case, and axle fluids every 30k. Cooling system should also be done every 3yrs or 40k.

As far as the exhaust goes, the OEM system is pretty good as is. Unless you are just wanting to blow some bucks and change the sound, or are planning major HP mods to the motor, there is little to gain here.

One quick easy improvement is to check your tire pressure. I know it sounds pretty obvious but it does make a difference.My D hasthe 4.7 and was getting about 14.7 mpg averageaccording to the overhead display with the front tiresdownaround 28psi and the rears around 23. After topping them offit's averaging 15.5.
