Default Transmission Problems

So the other day my transmission decided to die on me and rite now i have my car at a trany shop, but they are quoting me 2,850$ for a complete rebuild on the transmission with a 2 year warantee, but i still feel that 2,850$ is a lot for a rebuild. Does it seem like they are asking to much? Because i dont want to get screwed over because i dont have that much money to be able to fix it in the first place.

jsau:

With the 5.9 motor, you have the 46re tranny. I am sure others will chime in, but $2900 seems a bit high unless the thing is really trashed. I am not a tranny man, but unless you need alot of hard parts, I would think you would be in the $1900-2300 range.

Are you using a dealer, or a tranny shop?? If its a shop, which one?? some D owners have had really bad experiences with a few of them.

My fully rebuild and fully customized trany, oversized torque convertor for the 46re was $3000.

This thing I have is bulet proof!
