As far as a daily driver the guys I have talked to say its a fine daily driver. One guy I know drives 20k miles every year and has driven his charger srt every day for a year and a half. Just 2things he told me is 1. in the winter GET SNOW TIRES!!! and the other is get a better exhasut and a cold-air intake cause on the HW he will get 21mpg going 65mph and going 70mph he'll get either low 20's or high 19's, which is damn good for a car that has with those modd's 435HP at the flywheel.

I drive an SRT8 Magnum as an everyday car, especially in the winter, and it's fine. With a set of 18" Blizzaks it's a good winter car although you have to be careful of really deep snow and especially deep frozen ruts because the car is so low. Actually, I drive a convertible Mustang as my daily driver in the summer, but the SRT8 Magnum is my winter beater, rainy day car, and highway trip car. You don't have to modify these cars to get 21 MPG (US Gallon) on the highway. Mine gets around 23 in completely stock trim. BTW: I live in Calgary, Alberta. -Matthew

I drive mine every week day 100 miles per day. I have have no problems at all I get 20 mph accross the board driving 80 with several WOT up to 130mph :) Next to my Impala SS 95 this has been the best car I have ever driven on a daily basics. If you dont buy any SRT8 you are a fool. You can't get a better new or even better used car fully loaded for the same price. Every day I mean every day I am able to have heads turn where ever I go. In the snow as said above the car is low so you have to becareful and you cant really drive very well in any snow over 1 inch without snow tires.

My situation is almost exactly opposite as one of the guys above. I drive the Charger SRT every day unless it's nasty out. That's when I drive my Mustang.

It's probably fair to say that if you pay twice the price of the Dodge or Chrysler SRT8's in Canada for a big luxurious family car, you get a marginally more gadgety car that still doesn't have as much power or as much brakes as the the Mopar. Look at Cadillac, BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, Inifiniti or whatever, and by the time you option them up to $100000, you're still short on power and brakes, and maybe you have some gadgets like automatic parallel park instead. There just is not a bargain out there like the Mopars. BTW: Before I had the Dodge I drove my 02 GT Mustang in the winter too with Blizzaks, and it was also a good winter car, though not as good as the Dodge except maybe in the ground clearance department. -Matthew

Get one ASAP. This is the last year for them, if your getting a new one. Mine sees the highway every day. I am getting between 12-15 in town, and this is no bull, I got to see 25.4 mpg on the interstate for about 2 minutes. It was all on level ground at 70 mph. As soon as I started uphill, it dropped back 21-22 mpg. I have found that cleaning the throttle body out on a monthly basis, it really helps me out on the mileadge. Moved the Magnun badge too. Layed it on the back window. Makes it a little easier on the waxing. Also got the new SRT badge for the front grill. Thumbnail Image
