it pops out of gear on downshifts and rarely on up shifting. It has around 33,000 miles and from what i have read on the forum, I am not the only one who has had this issue
Ya mine was doing that, and also grinding on downshifts then it got worse and could occur on upshifts too, eventually the 3-4th fork got stuck and the synchro blew up and put 2 holes in the side of the transmission, so i wouldnt let it go to far without fixing it

if you don't drive stupid you can go a very long time without fixing it. my boyfriend went almost 90k on a busted 3rd gear and just had it rebuilt about two weeks ago. costs anywhere from 1k-1500 depending on the damage and what needs to be replaced at most shops.
I have a complete motor/tranny and 2 stock turbo's in my garage. that other motor is gonna be stoked and bored eventualy But this other tranny has a whole in the bell housing about the size of a quarter in the top half. Is that detrimental? Can it be fixed? How hard is it to re build a tranny?
I'm also having the same problem with mine, it still finds all the gears but third if I shift quicker than normal I get that absolutely disgusting grinding noise. Of course I also have 120k miles on my srt4.
I was looking into buying a new clutch this summer, I'm going for performance with this car, so I was wondering what the best clutch would be, I'm no mechanic and I would appreciate some input on what a good clutch is to put in. I've been looking on Modern Performance lately and I see they have performance clutches, but again I'm not sure which is right for me. I'm not going to be hitting anywhere near 400hp for a while. So please any input on which clutch would be fine for me. Also I have a Hurst Short Throw Shifter if that makes a difference.
As far as clutches go, a lot of people like the South Bend clutches. The only issue I have heard from them was vibration, which they recently have fixed. Other than that, my buddy is pushing almost 500tq and using the Mopar Performance clutch w/o any problems.....
