There is now a Caliber SRT-4. See here: http://www.dodgeforum.com/m_408472/tm.htm AWH 04-21-2008, 07:01 AM Go to www.drivesrt.com (http://www.drivesrt.com) or just google Caliber SRT-4. It is with the new aluminum block "World Engine", still 2.4L turbo (03-05 were cast iron). 300HP, 260 lb. ft., 6-speed, 19" rims. Not bad, but I like the style of the Neon SRT-4 better. Plus I've heard it's still not any faster. The tranny is better though. Just my 2 cents. srt4rez 04-21-2008, 02:16 PM I don't really care for the Caliber as a SRT-4, wish they could've did the Avenger. The look is better for a Neon, and can't seem to get used to the Caliber...sort of looks like a Chevy Aztec from the past. But I love my SRT-4 Neon!!! The Few, the Proud, Stock for Stock..fast!!!!:) dustyloins 04-22-2008, 09:03 PM As Midnight said, the Neon was replaced by a more "modern" car.......just for your info, more SRT-4's were sold than anyone could have hoped. It was and still is a very popular car!!! Dusty AWH 04-23-2008, 08:13 AM ORIGINAL: srt4rez I don't really care for the Caliber as a SRT-4, wish they could've did the Avenger. The Few, the Proud, Stock for Stock..fast!!!!:) Haha yeah I agree, the Caliber doesn't do it for me either. The Avenger/Sebring would be a better choice maybe they will make one in the future, or perhaps a Nitro SRT-4 might be pretty cool, but the Nitro would likely be a 6 or even 8 cyl. Sad to say but the new Chevy Cobalt SS turbo is lookin' pretty good nowadays. Oh well, guess my next car will have to be the Challenger or Grand Cherokee, SRT-8 of course. BTW wasn't the Aztec made by Pontiac? lblackneon 04-23-2008, 10:24 PM The Caliber Srt-4 does have some nice features. I still like the Neon srt-4 better. srt4ever 04-24-2008, 01:27 PM I drove a Feb production made Black Caliber SRT-4, the other day at the dealership...5th gear was beyond hard to go into gear and later after the drive I mentioned that to the dealer, they told me it is getting to be a "common problem"[&:] with the transmission on theCaliber. Fast Car,but far to limited in its visability to me, vs the Neon...Fast Yes...but that transmission and 5th gear bugged me...I forsee a recall on those things!;) Just thought you'd like to know.:D 01DodgeRam360 04-24-2008, 01:30 PM Really, for marketing purposes, I think dodge would be very smart if they reintroduced the Dodge Neon, but had the srt-4 engine. I think average people would be more inclined to buy a "Dodge Neon" than an "SRT-4". Also, seems these days that all cars have 200+ h/p in their engines. It's just my personal opinion. I owned a dodge neon, and it was just a real dud. Great on fuel, but had terrible performance unless you spent thousands of dollars trying to make it something it wasn't. By the time it could ever be a srt-4, you were you just better off buying an srt-4. VTSRT4 05-16-2008, 02:02 AM But why did they stop making them? Was it because they were trying to bring inmore revenue and prevent from going into bankruptcy? posthondaremoval 05-16-2008, 03:59 AM 11 years isnt too bad a run for a primarily unchanged body style. There are few cars that last longer in any form...911 for example(german cars seem to like "evolving" slowly) would be one. But our little Neon did come out in 95. It had a then impressive base 132 horsepower, trumping civics easily, and also offered a 150 hp on their sport coupe. It replaced the shadow(thank goodness). I will add my .02 though and say I was at the dealership checking otu a 05 srt-4 and when they tried convincing me to drive the caliber srt-4 I didn't even have the slightest desire to get behind the wheel. It looks like someone previously stated a chopped up aztec. Cool features and nice engine(sans the aluminum block - pooh on dodge for dropping the iron) but upright stance and ride position and , well, it's just contrary to what i would want in a fwd musclecar. |
