i've been reading all the posts about the chrome CAI and im getting more and more clueless with each post. I just need to set some things straight, whats the difference between the $80 and $20 ones from ebay?  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/04-05-06-DODGE-RAM-1500-3-7L-AIR-INTAKE-FULL-COLD-K-N-F_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ38634QQihZ013QQitemZ230229797508QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
and this one
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/00-01-02-03-07-DODGE-DURANGO-RAM-4-7L-3-7L-AIR-INTAKE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ38634QQihZ024QQitemZ370030633071QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW#ebayphotohosting
also what about the $250+ ones. I have an 08 ram with flowmaster 40 series muffler, what should i get.  I also heard there are some problems with these chrome CAI. Some people said that they are great and some said that they wish they hadnt got 1. Will a CAI affect my warranty when i take it to the dealer cause i think someone said they took it off when they went there?  Help. ????????

the one for $80 is a cold air intake, the other is not. im not too sure if there are any problems but there shouldnt really be any, its just a metal tube. as far as the intakes that cost 250+ you are mostly paying for the name imo and last it cant void your warrenty unless they can prove the intake is what caused the part to fail. they cant really blame the intake on say your a/c going out. they can try to, but its bs. hope that helps somewhat!

The first one is the one I have, bought it from the same person too.  lol.    no problems at all with install.  And I agree with damien, you are just buying the name on the $250 CAI's.

the $80 one i heard from somewhere said that you could water damage in the engine since its located near the bumper and could easily suck in water if its raining

the $80 one is a "full" one. meaning, the tubes strap right to your throttle body.

the cheaper one (ala mine), just connects to the throttle body.

see?

and this is what texasbigb got in the mail, and how it looks. he ordered what you did. all three of us bought from same place too.

he says it's not worth taking out the black plastic pieace that holds your stock air box in...but do it, PM me, and i'll tell you how. might as well do it right.

haha thx smash....

yea all the $240 cai is just k/n pipes....nothn special....and yes u will notice a diff in mpg and the overall drive of ur truck...more respone and hp/torque....umm i dont think this will in anyway affect ur warranty...if it does just put the factory air filter on when u take it into the shop....

diff b/w the 2 isnt much....the more expensive one connects to the throttle body and goes down to the front bumper...so all that "magnum" cover shit on ur engine comes off...i noticed a big sound diff after i put my cai on, but if i were u id get the 80 doller one just cause i have it and i kno it works....but if ur on a budget just get the shorty intake

the installation is pretty simple...i went into this project (installn my cai) w/o any knowledge of wtf i was doin...just read over my "manual" and ull get r done...and yea i would deff pm smash bout that plastice thing...

oh and about the water in engine thing....ive had my cai for about a month or 2 and nothin has gone wrong....i was at bball practice and it rained very hard and flooded the campus i was practicn at and i drove right thru it all hydroplanin and everything...nothn went wrong...no engine lights or n e thing

^^ yea..the hyper about "hydrolock" is kinda over exagerated. but, you can get pretty messed up in the right conditions.

such as going so deep that you submerge your intake (it acts as a straw in that case). or like, if you spray a hose at for extended periods or something like that.

I ordered from chrome intakes as well. I'll try and get some pics up this weekend.
