Hi,
My 94 3.9L Dakota wouldn't start this morning. I turned it over and nothing, no click. The dome light came on when I opened the door. I checked the connections on the battery and found a little buildup so I took them off and cleaned the cables and the terminals. I re-attached the terminals and had my daughter try to start the truck. It did try to start. While trying to start I saw a spark come from the cable/terminal connection on the battery (the terminal closest to the grille). After that the truck would not start again (again no click). Has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it?

Thank you in advance for your assistance. This forum has helped me alot with my truck in the past.

try pulling the coil wire and just holding it real close to the plug on the distributer while turning it over.

Clean the battery posts and connectors again best to use wire wheel on a drill.

Replace the terminal ends. I just went through the same exact thing with my '94 3.9. The terminal that's sparking is the negative terminal. I replaced both ends (they came as a set at Wal-Mart for 5 bucks with the little discs that supposedly stop corrosion, and the ends are painted red and black) have had no problem since.
