I need some tech help. I own a 2005 SXT with a tired 3.5 (98,000 miles). I purchased a parts only 2005 RT online. This vehicle was underwater before it was recovered. Want to put RT parts on the SXT.

Initial Question: If the computers (ECU, TCU, ETC) have been under water (no power to them at the time), are they shot???

I know I will tear down, clean and reassemble the 5.7.

I am told the trans is sealed so no chance of water inside. Same with the Dif. Is this true?

Wiring harness(s). Are they the same from LX to LX or did the RT have a different harness?
Specifically the underhood harness, and the steering column harness.

if i was you, i would get the R/T running and check it all out before i thought about swapping parts.

you could easily get water in the trans and rear end. they have vents were water could enter if submerged, same with the engine.

I would bet you $5000 that ANY electrical parts underwater are junk, whether you think there was power going to them or not. There is always current running through a vehicle, and even if the battery was disconnected, there is still retained power in computers. I think you would be much further ahead to trade for a 5.7
