Can anyone with some knowledge of super or turbo systems...give me your opinion of what you would put under your hood? STS Turbo is the Universal Stage 3 Kit for $3,100 shipped and the Paxton SuperCharger on the KRC website I believe for $5,299..and...if I were to get the Paxton that means bye bye to my K&N 57 right?

Superchargers belts can break...Turbos can have lag....

sts is just junk. with the universal kit you get the turbo and piping. you dont get any fuel management with it. you dont get and computer with it, all this is at and additional cost. with the krc, you get the complete package from head to toe. also it has been on the dyno at the krc site putting about 300 to the rear wheels.

Ha..thanks man...I mean I figured a bolt-on for the 4.7 would be better anyway than the universal for just any old thing...also if you dont mind just say I put the Paxton, along with a balanced Stroker Kit + the cams I was talking about in my other thread together and Dans TB..am i gonna be looking pretty good? Or will that just eat up my engine?

all you need to do is port and polish the heads for better air flow and double up on the head gaskets. that is what handles the boost.

I would say the S/C is a better option,  but...   if you are going to run a stroker kit...  you will most likley run into a problem with compression under boost.  high compression with boost is not a good thing.

I am contemplating a turbo,  but latley I have been leaning toward building a car and leaving the truck alone.   I wouldn't mind doing cams,  but I can put that money onto a car and make a lot more out of less...

but back to the point at hand.   I like the KRC supercharger,  it has been proven to put out good power.   A little pricey for $-hp ratio,  but if ya got it, spend it!

Eric your back!!...lol...so then would it just be better to do what SuperDak said by polishing and porting the heads? (BTW What does that mean???? =P) Leaving the Stroker Kit out and just putting the 212x cams in with the Supercharger?...and one more thing..a stroker kit makes it sound like theres a can in your engine right??

Everyone who put a STS on their SRT10s has had the engine blow up. I would stay away from the STS.

I would stick to cams and a charger...  or cams and a stroker kit.

STS makes a great turbo kit.  My uncle has an STS on his 2000 camaro SS...   he has had it for 3 years and has never had an issue.

The problem with boost is detonation.  If you dont have the right mix of air to fuel,  kiss your engine goodbye

Port and polishing basically means the intake and exhaust ports are cleaned up smooth, to an almost shiny surface, allowing the air/gas mixture and the exhaust to flow easily through your engine thus increasing power. This produces less drag. A stroker kit basically increases your engines stroke mainly, and bore secondly. These kits give the engine more torque and power. As far as what combo of parts to use, you got mean.

Most good engine shops will flow match teh intake and exhaust sides to match aswell,  just thought I would add that in there.
