i have a 91' dakota 5.2 liter. my water temp seems to go down really fast compared to other cars. the temp could be at half on the gauge and i shut it off and walk away for 1 min, i come back and it's almost down to the Cold line. my dad said he had a new thermostat put on a while ago. i have plenty of radiator coolant. i have a newer radiator(old one stopped working, got a used one). i have no leaks in hoses. i put a new pcv valve on a couple of weeks ago. it's not a major problem but im worried if the fluid isn't circulating properly. also after i put in my new pcv everytime i turn off the engine, it farts! and then i hear liqui moving around. no major flaws have been noticed yet but i would not like something to happen when im doin 75.

sounds like it might just be excess gases excaping from the engine through the PCV valve for some reason, maybe its just not sealed as well as it should be or something, hence the 'fart' noise, and then the gurgling could just be the oil re-settling after the change in pressure inside the engine... but that sounds weird, ive never really heard a car 'fart' like that haha...

I had the same problem with a gargling liquid sound after I shut off the engine. This went on for a good three months. I could smell very hot coolant as I closed the door. I noticed a small leak of coolant near the waterpump. Sure enough. Replaced waterpump, bypass hose and clamp. Total cost with labor 225.00. Problem Solved. As far as a fart noise...well never heard the fart noise. But I did get backfire when I start, stop, start, stop, etc., during the hot afternoons here in Los Angeles. My job requires that I stop and restart my engine 15 + times a day. Usually loose power as I restart and try to hit the gas with the A/C on. It hesitates and then takes off. Nearly got killed a few times doing left turns in front of people. Severe loss of power. Now I just rev it up and make sure its idling without the backfire. I have not solved this problem.THIS IS MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT ABOUT MY 96 DAKOTA. Noone (mechanics), seems to understand what I am talking about. Or they don't care. Anyone?
