Default New Member and First Question..Hi All!

Hi all!

I've got a 2005 Dakota (33k Miles) and the other day as i was doing a routine check on fluids i noticed my tranny fluid was a little darker than it should be at 30k, or at least i thought so. Is this common with newer dodge trucks? Could i be looking at some serious issues soon?

Thanks

Welcome to DF!

Not sure about the trans fluid but it's never a bad time to switch to Amsoil (still need to do that myself once mine's fixed)
Is that guitar in your avatar real or a photoshop because if it's real that is one badass guitar!

Sorry I took so long to answer, but am a new member myself. Krystal and I extend ouir greetings to you. As to your tranny fluid, the color should be a deepish red. If it smells like burned paper, it has been overheated. If it does smell burned, I would change it without delay. Don't have the flush, as that does nothing for the filter. The filter needs changed if it has been burned. Good luck, and keep us updated on the results, please.

I would say that is you have to do a fluid change... go with Amsoil... it will last a good long time, and is a better fluid that regular ATF

Well when I was looking into it I did some research and poking around and it seems like the stuff lives up to their claims. Plus one of the guys we know who is an amazing harley/small engine mechanic/tuner swears by it. He's run every type of synthetic in his screamin eagle and said the Amsoil performed the best and seemed to hold up better, only one he didn't lose some oil pressure with when he was flogging the crap out of it (full throttle runs back-to-back).
