I took my car in to Dodge to get my brakes done and they suggested that I get a tune-up because I had 30,000 spark plugs and now I am just over the 50k marker, but they wanted $265. So, I figured I could do it myself for just the price of the parts, but I am unsure what plugs to purchase. Can someone who has done a tune up on their Charger 5.7 Hemi let me know their thoughts on this.

Yes definitely do it yourself and save the Hemi bucks the dealership would profit.

If your lightly modded use stock replacements (these are what I have used in the past):

Champion RE14MCC4 Copper Plus Plugs (OEM) RockAuto $1.35 each. (these are prices from over a year ago so they will vary some)
Bosch 4314 (Platinum two prong, don't gap these their pre-gapped) RockAuto $4.84 each.

The gap should be .44 and use anti-seize on the threads. Torque to 13 ft-lbs. Tools: ratchet, 5/8 sparkplug socket, extension & 10mm socket to get the coil packs off. It will take from 45 minutes to an hour.

MangoInTx, thanks for the fast reply. The only mods I have done so far is a CAI. Not sure if this changes the suggested spark plugs. I know this is may be a dumb question but I know on my old cars (non-hemi) I had to change cables as well and the spark plugs matched the number of cyclinders. Being that i have a V8, do I have to get 8 spark plugs, as well as 8 cables?

With the hemi V8 I think there are actually 16 plugs 2 per cylinder.

Nicky is absolutly right, there are 16 plugs (2 per cylinder).

There are no traditional wires, they were replaced by "coil packs".  There is one coil pack per cylinder each located over each cylinder on top of the valve cover.  Each coil pack has two rubber insulated leads that pop on top of the two spark plugs down in the block.

Here is what you see prior to taking them off (loosen the two bolts holding each on then pull them up slowly). You will also take off the wire connector to each by pushing the locking tab up and then pulling the connector off the coil pack, you should be able to see the wire leads into each coil pack in the attached picutre.

I still haven't done the changes on the spark plugs because I am undecided on which plugs to buy. I am looking towards AUTOLITE Part # APP5263 More Info {PLUGS Double Platinum (***See Promotions & Rebates Page for Rebate Information***)} Gap .045; Requires 2 plugs per cyl. Not sure which plugs need to be gapped or not out of the cheaper ones. I'm looking to do little work as possible. I would like to just get them and put them in. Anymore recommendations before I order????

Thanks for the replies so far, they have definitely got me on the right track.

No recommendations but advice... don't gap platinum plugs, due to the makeup of platinum you might break the electrode in the tip of the plug.
