all ive ever been able to figure out from that number is that that the 9443 is a 10000 day date code.

i regularly get theseconfusd but to best of my knowledge here goes

3 spdauto is A727
3 spd auto with OD is A518 (which is basically a 727with a couple vaccum lines i learned the other day.)
so just look at your PeRNunDeL and count the gears

also there was the A500 which is a3 spd + OD andslightly different gear ratios (from 727/518)that was NOT used on your truck because they started in like 89 or something

yea these make sense only they use the new code. instead of 727, 518, 500 they use like 36RH 42RH etc (i dont know them exactly).

the first number is number of gears
second is torque rating (from 1-8)
first letter is R for rear
then H or E for hydraulic or electronic control system

PS, "T" does not mean linked to a Transaxle it means transverse mount. So buying the 31TH from somebodies Omni isnt gonna give us 4x4

My 87 has the 904 in it. Just thought, it has the lock-up converter so it may go by 999 or something. It is the light duty one though.[sm=americanasmiley.gif]
