Default Aftermarket alarm

Has anyone installed or had an aftermarket alarm installed on their Dakota? I am looking to have one put on mine and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction as to what brand and functions to look for. As well as what a fair price is for a good one. Thanks!!

Default Aftermarket alarm

Not on my Dakota yet, its a lease and not sure I'm keeping it.

I did have a Viper system added once. Very nice system with all the bells and whistles, even had the remote start. I paid $300 installed, and that was about 6 years ago. Got it at one of those shops that does auto-glass, bed liners, rustproofing, ect..

I have the Viper alarm on mine. It is capable of all the bells and whistles, but i dont have them all hooked up. no need to when i dont have power windows or power locks.

I paid a pretty penny for it.... you could probably find it cheaper somewhere else, or if you did the install yourself.

But I would recommend the one i have, does an awesome job, and it doesnt hurt that it comes with a pretty cool remote for it

I've checked on the Viper alarms but can't make up my mind which one to go for. I'm like you Brittney, I dont have power windows or locks either.

well go to DEI's website: http://www.directed.com/security/default.aspand compare each one and price them out all over, I had all of mine installed at Best Buy, I've had no problems at all, and very happy. I currently have a AVITAL.

I'VE GOT A SIDEWINDER IN MY 2001 DAK Q/C. IT WAS PURCHASED AND INSTALLED AT BEST BUY. IT'S MADE BUY DEI WHO MAKES THE INFAMOUS VIPER ALARM SYSTEM. DEI MAKES A HAND FULL OF SYSTEMS WHICH ARE ALL BASICALLY THE SAME JUST CARRYING DIFFERENT NAMES FOR DIFFERENT RETAILERS. SHOP AROUND IF ITS ONE OF THE DEI SYSTEMS I THINK YOU'LL BE HAPPY WITH IT.

Default RE: Aftermarket alarm

Have you considered looking in to having the factory alarm activated?
With my '02 quad cab, I can apparently have a couple of bits flipped in the central timer module and get the VTSS activated. From what I can tell, if you have power door locks and remote keyless entry you have the 'highline' CTM. Reprogramming could potentially activate the alarm.
Has anyone had this done?
