so recently sometimes when i first let off on the gas i get  a clink clink clink sound... today i jacked up the rear end and traced the slop in the drivetrain to the transfer case.  I was told it is probably just a sloppy chain and its nothing to worry about, it will still drive like that for a long time.

my question... running it like this, will it wreck more things?  Cheapest and easiest solution?(rebuild t-case, get used one from wreckers??)

thanks

It could be many things the usual thing is the u-joints. If it is the tcase chain Then it is posible to skip some teeth and wear everything out alot quicker. Its best not to let it wait. Spend some time checking it. If you cant find it most shops will do a free test drive. See what they think.

well i did isolate it to the t-case....or tranny.... its not the u-joints......ill probably look into picking up a t-case from the wreckers, be cheaper than getting mine rebuilt

Probably not actually, because there is no way that you need a complete rebuild, and changing out the chain isnt that difficult.

any online tutorials to give me  a idea?  i figure the t-case might have went empty on previous owner because of the leak... would other parts need to be relpaced because of it being ran empty?
