Congrats on the decision to make the swap. Keep us detailed so if one of us wants to do it in the future we can use your write up as a reference.!

Do you want to sell your v8 throttle body off of your 3.9? I would like to call first dibs if the price is right!

LOL, I don't have a v8 throttle body only one I got is the one on the 5.9.

BTW almost got the engine out today. It decided to be stupid and engine mounts are ridiculous, so I have to pull out 4 more bolts. I think it will come after that. One thing I noticed was the back of the engine it has a bolt hole on the top for the tranny, not sure why it's there? Do I just not bolt it in? I think It will be fine and the rest line up maybe some sort of stud... But I will see once I get the v6 out...

Chris

I gotta chime in on this one too....

Way to go on the swap!  Glad to hear you are doing it.  I bet you will be MORE than happy when you are finished.  I have thought about dropping in a big block once my 4.7 finally bites it.  It doesn't even have 60,000 miles on it yet, so i will probably be waiting a while....but it's fun to daydream..

HEH, Thanks Guys.
There is a couple of the things on the harness im not sure about maybe abs? Not sure.

But here is an update.

Engine will be coming out today! Got the stupid mounts ect... off. It was coming out, but I need someones help to guide it out. It lifts up, but not out wards... So Something is catching I am guessing the torque converter/Fly Wheel.

you should take the fan and fan shroud off before you pull the motor. it will give you more room to slide it forward when bringing it out.

Wasn't able to do anything today, but I will get some pictures of the engine, you will see how similar the engines actually are. Pretty much identical. Just bigger, well longer. The fly wheel is the same, bolt patterns, ect.. I should take some pictures just to reassure people. But it's going pretty good I think fast will be fast in than out.

Engine

Shows the weights on the engine

Empty Engine Bay

I did almost get the engine it, but I did remove the rad, and fan, it seemed difficult with this in the way so I just took it out. Unfortunately I need 4 chains to get it to sit in properly, so I have to wait till tomorrow to get it in properly. I need the front a lot higher than the rear, also someone told me I needed to grind down brackets, but I don't think I do because mine is 4x4.

I just got done with a 3.9 to 5.2 swap on my 96 2wd. It is not as fun as you may think, lol. i just barely got some of the stuff to plug in because the engine is longer, mabey it is different on the newer daks though. but let me know if you have any questions on anything else, it is worth it in the end!!!

Look how much space there is. There isn't a radiator there but there is a lot of room.
