Maybe I am an idiot, but this made me laugh. It does have some valid points none the less, but I still giggled. If it were only that simple to get 4mpg additional.

While it is funny, its very true....
I run the cruise control on my car religiously, even in city....and I see an impact on my mileage. I'm able to go further on less then what I would if I just drove around.
I put on about 50-60K per year. I have played around with many different things. In my 05 Durango I get better mpg at 80-85 then at 70-75(about 1.5mpg). If I get under 60 it really gets bad(almost 3mpg). In my 02 Intrepid (ES 3.5L)I could only get 22mpg and it doesn't matter if that was at 65 or 85. In my 97 Z28 (auto)I got 25mpg at 80 and 21 at 70. I know there is a million variables, but that is the CLIFF NOTES version. I have document my driving since 1999 and with all of the vehicle I have owned in the last 9 years the only on where I notice driving slower getting better mpg was in my 98 Neon R/T coupe(5spd). The guy from GM has science on his side, but that fact is, it doesn't mean a whole lot outside of the lab. And in my opinion, the best way to add mpg (without mods), is getting the slower drivers to stay out of the left lane!
If GM, FORD, Chrysler, etc... 10% of there advertising capitol in R & D we wouldn't even need to have all of these discussions on mpg and the cost per gallon....I better stop I feel a RANT comming on....

P.S. - my knowledge is based on the fact that I am a teir 1 supplier to all of the big 3 and I have logged over 500,000 miles in the last 9 years
Easy to laugh at GM. I saw a new commerical last night with Howie Long. They had an F-150 and Tundra up on a dyno and running them. He said most manufactures warranties run out at 60,000 miles(truck stops running) and then what? He said Chevy beats Toyota and Ford with their 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. Never said a damn thing about Dodge. LOFL
Yeah, true, the funny thing is is that most people don't realize that with the lifetime powertrain warranty you can get a wrap around to cover your car for life! Check into it.
