Default Gas Mileage problem?!

What kind of wires/plugs are best to run in a 318? I changed mine about 6k ago and have noticed a severe decrease in MPG. At cruising speeds before I was averaging18-20 and real time on straight stretch (flat run at 65mph) was 24-27, now on the same stretch of road I get like 17. I put Bosch plat +2's in it and duralast wires.

Also, what are some things to do to increase mpg?! With the gas prices going up, I need to conserve where possible. Any help will be much appreciated!

Not sure about that year, but everthing I read on prior posts here pointed to using regular old Champion plugs.
Not the Iridium ones: just plain old "Regular" Champions.
I put them in myself last weekend, but haven't done any milage comparason, as I've not really owned it long enough..

Sounds like you might be looking for a commuter car though if you want really conservative gas milage.

I have an SVT contour that I use for trips where I don't have to get alot of people in there, just me and the fam if you will. But this thing is just killing me with gas bouncing from 3.25-3.49 in my area, and having to fill up from 1/8 tank every week. I put about 200-240 miles on a tank a week right now. I guess I will just have to drive the car more.

Get that crap out of there!

Go get some Champion Truck Plugs, Iridium, or regular. Bosch is **** in your truck. Never put a Jap. plug into a American motor! (rule of thumb)

I run the Truck Plugs. I also run an MSD Ignition and wires. But right now I'm running regular but, I'm going back to the Truck Plugs gapped at .042 for my ignition.

Get OEM wires or MSD 8.5mm wires. Cap and rotor should be brass contacts.

Champion Truck plugs are the same spark plug as the regular it is just painted a differnet color. This info comes from a person who works for champion on disign work.

For the Magnum engines i would recomend Autolite 3923 (reduce ping/smooth idle), and the4.7L NGK 2262. Cap, i suggest Napa, brass contacts are the way to go,mopar caps are aluminum contacts.

I will head to Autozone today and get the correct plugs. The wires will have to wait another week or so. As for ignition, what part #'s are on the MSD coil and is there an aftermarket complete ignition, such as a MSD 6L or anything? I am new to dodge, and have mostly worked with ford fuel injection in the past.

Everyone! Dude check out the new E3 power spark plugs. I have tried all the spark plugs out there and these E3 PLUGS RUN THE REST IN THE GROUND... plus with the 100,000 mile warranty how can one go wrong. Check out my second page @ http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2646307. For better gas mileage...

I agree. You are 100% correct sir! Those would be my exact recommendations. I am going to look into the E3s however for sh!ts and giggles. I can always take 'em back out for my $1.00 3923s
