Default Couple of thermostat questions

What temp does everyones truck run at? Mine seems to run hot, to me anyway. My temp gauge stays just above the middle mark when warmed up. Where should it be at?

Also, I'm thinking of putting in a heavy duty stat. I read somewhere that modern vehicles are designed to run hotter. If I put in a stat that makes it run colder, would I mess something up?

Default RE: Couple of thermostat questions

my factory 195 stat ran just below the center line. then i put a napa 180stat part #530080 in it and it runs pretty much between the middle line and bottom line. these trucks like a cooler stat along with a cooler spark plug. been running the autolite 3923 plugs for some time now and truck likes them
