Default Fluid Leak

I own a 2005 Durango 5.7 Hemi...I recently noticed a small amount of what I believe is oil on my garage floor. It is not red so I don't think it is tranny fluid but am not sure. Came from toward the front of vehicle. Could someone advise me what might be causing this or anyone with this same situation?

I was leaning toward that same conclusion...I believe my warranty is expired, 43000 miles, do you know the cost without warranty?

hayward:

Could be anywhere from $50 to ?????? If your steering rack is leaking, that costs a buch especially if the dealer does it. If the leak turns out to be engine or tranny related, your 7/70 powertrain warranty should cover it with a $100 deductible.

Whatever you do though, I would not wait around until whatever is leaking completely fails and leaves you stranded.

Just a head's up, ended up being a gasket on the tranny pan. Had to replace filters, fluid, etc. $100.00

Hayward:

Glad to hear the issue was covered under your 7/70. This may be a blessing in disguise as now you have had your tranny serviced. Don't forget though about your transfer case (if 4x4) and axle fluids. These also should be done as well. IIRC, the Gen 2 T case can wait till 50k, and the axles are still 30k.
