hello
my 2001 dakota 4x4 gets 11mpg city 17hwy is that typical for a 4.7. i drive it like a baby 95% of the time and if i step on it it's only once not every time i drive. it has 83k with a auto tranny and my average mpg says 13.2
I have heard some 5.2 people say they get more than me when i have the newer engine. is there something electronic going on like a pcm update from chrysler or is this how the trucks really are? I have 31" tires and a flowmaster 40 series so very close to stock
THANKS

before you spend money at your stealership try taking your o2 sensors out and cleaning them if you cannot afford to replace them, but i would just replace them

2004 4.7, I get 16 pretty steadily around town, and 20 highway. I noticed mine dropping around 30,000 miles, so I put new Champion plugs, K&N drop in air filter, and pcv valve, and it shot back up again ? My neighbor has a 2001 4.7. I'll have to ask him what he gets. All, they say tire pressure is real important to, I keep mine at 35 psi.

agreed. since it's not throwing codes. replace the O2's. cheap and simple

I drive like an old lady. I don't accelerate over 2k rpm. Judiciously accelerate and decelerate to minimize braking. I average 17 - 18 mpg driving mostly on local roads and an occasional highway.
