I had a clear 2 mile stretch of road from a redlight 2 weeks ago, it's a 4 lane road, 2 lanes going each way and it's quiet. What pulls up next to me but a 6.0 GTO. The light is red and he keeps creeping forward until he's about 3/4 of a car length ahead of me. The light turns green and we're off, 0-100 he took me by about 1/2 car length. That includes the 3/4 length he had at the start.

Yes my little SRT-4 lost but I felt pretty good about it. While I don't support street racing this was a perfectly quiet 2 lane straight road with no traffic coming on to it.

I'd be curious to know what tranny was in that GTO......sounds like it was probably an auto....either way, that's a good race...

I was wondering the same thing. I'm guessing it was a standard trans. When I hit 2nd and 3rd my car torques real hard and actually feels like it wants to go sideways in a straight line. I noticed that this GTO did the same type thing I'm guessing when he hit 3rd, his car was sort of twisted and not setting straight going down the road.

why would you think it's an auto?

You know why. B/c autos are slower.

talisman: What mods do you have on the car?

Simply based off the way he described the race......the auto GTO's are more in line with the stock SRT-4 times when compared to the manual GTO's, especially the LS2 powered variety. Of course, those times come down to the driver ultimately, so it still could have been a manual.

Like I said before, he ran a good close race despite being roughly 150hp less....

It doesn't matter, it was a good race and it happened exactly as I said. I believe it was a standard transmission but it doesn't really matter. I'm too old to bother making stuff up just to impress someone.

I sold the SRT last night so I'm checking out now.

I just wanted to say goodbye to Burnout, PSI Chick, flamingpinhead and the rest who I used to talk to and who helped me in the past with the car. Y'all have been great and I wish all of you the best in the future.

Take care.
