hey how do you know what neon youhave i typed my vin number in google and it came out in car fax it says my car is a 98 DOHC neon i dont think it is some one help me out

look at the left side of the engine, should be a big black cover over the timing gear. If it looks like OO at the top its DOHC if it lookes like O its SOHC. Also most SOHC have a stamped valve cover(VC) that says 2.0 16 valve on it, and most DOHC VCs are cast and dont have any writing on em.

12volt gave a very very generic answer.
If the motors valve cover doesn't say what Engine it is, its a 1995 SOHC
Dual Over Head Cam Motors Say on the Valve Cover DOHC. SOHC motors after 1995 say SOHC on the valve cover.

notice this is a DOHC VC without a label. Because the warm air intake reduces performance so much dodge made a peice that goes over the VC and connects to the air box to try and get cooler air from the front of the engine. This peice it labeled, but the VC is not. this pic does not include the part that connects to the airbox.
this is a pic of the black cover over the cam gears notice the OO shape
please forgive the leaky VC gasket

Possibly confused the 2.0L v/c with the 2.4L v/c. Only labeled dohc neon v/c is the srt, if that is really a neon  . The 420A all have labeled 2.0L v/c as well.
the pic is from my neon 98 2.0, i could only wish a had a 2.4.
