I have an R/T AWD that has the standard 6-CD radio. I've seen myGiG systems on eBay - has anyone bought one of these and done an upgrade? I asked the dealer what the cost would be to upgrade & was told about $2400! If it's a "plug-n-play" deal, it might be worth it to buy one for $600 or so & do it myself. One thing that I was wondering about, also - I got the 1-year Sirius deal with my car. How does Sirius handle passwords (or whatever) to activate the radio? If I get a myGiG system, what would I have to do to make sure that my Sirius subscription transfers over? Are there any other secret codes or whatever necessary to make this swap?

Dave, (I assume your name is Dave anyway) My Avenger originally had the 6-CD radio as well because I bought it in July before they officially had MyGig in the Avenger. Although I didn't pay the $2400 to have it installed (I bought it "used" with a whole 1200 miles on it, the dealer was motivated to sell, so I was able to work a deal and get it way under sticker price, plus have it in my contract that when MyGig was available, they would install it) I did have my MyGig installed by the dealer, although it's pretty much plug and play. The only thing you will have to install is GPS antenna if you get the RER, but after taking apart my dash last week, I found the dealer just mounted it in the A/C vent right above the radio which doesn't sound like propper placement for a GPS antenna, but I haven't had any problems so I can't complain. As far as the 1 year Sirius subscription, you're probably out of luck. Sirius does this as a promotion for new radios so I don't think they will be willing to transfer the 1 year free to a radio you bought from eBay. Although, if you buy one that is supposedly "new" if it's not activated yet, chances are you'll get a 1 year free subscription on that one (or at least the remainder of the 1 year if any time is left from the person who activated it). I know, when I bought my car, I was still on remainder of the 1 year (less a little over a month the previous owner had it), then got a new 1 year subscription that came with the MyGig.

Harman Becker replaced my MyGig unit, sent the new one to me directly. The old one was sent back to HB. I was told by HB that the new replacement radio has a full 1 year service with Sirius that started when the unit was replaced in February. My car was purchased in September. I did not talk to Sirius regarding this during the switch? It will interesting what will happen in September 2008.
