I wouldnt call them "beauty shots" by any means, overall its appearance is very dated and boring IMO. BUT, you cant complain about its features like brembo brakes, and a direct injection turbocharged engine...

I agree with you. The look is indeed dated, its just an updated Cavalier in my opinion.

However, the 260hp/260ftlbs of torque are very nice....and the car is fun to drive. I've driven a few of the S/C SS Cobalts, and they were fun. Not as fast as an SRT-4, but very close.

This new turbo version could be even better in the long run, and mod friendly with that Direct Injection

in my experiences, the girls who buy these cars dont have much clue how to launch, so it doesnt matter if they have 500hp...they still dont know how to use it.  ive seen VERY few that impressed me, and even the stage 2 guys are only in the low 13s...like that one douche from MF.  most of the cavaliers SS/SC's ive seen were in the 14s...some of which were slower than my 16 year old dsm...

Pat, I dunno if you looked, but this thing has 260hp and is lighter than the Caliber SRT-4. Still FWD though.

im not saying that it doesnt have a ton of power...but even with the stated power of the old models, they struggled to keep up with stock srt4s when using GMPPs aftermarket kits...

They were also using a 2.0L with a S/C.....this motor is much better with the direct port injection and the turbo..

the same engine that is in the slowstice and the sky, right?  those run low 14s...and they have the advantage of weight transfer on a hard launch...th cavalier does not.

keep in mind, the sky and slowstice were touted as being srt4 neon killers...and the first models struggle to beat the stratus, but the world was supposed to wait for this turbo model, and it runs low 14s?

Why is the Cobalt getting this and the G5 is getting nothing still.  Pontiac's performance image is going to continue to grow weaker each time Chevrolet gets a performance upgrade or performance model when they fail to match or exceed the offering.  If GM wants to do something that is going to really make a major impact, they need something that can hold a candle to the Evo.  They need a 300hp AWD car.

They already have the Charger R/T that produces 350hp.

I know what you saying though, and I agree with you, but right now Pontiac is in greater need of it because Dodge has a pony car that is about to be released, for right now they have a 600hp supercar, they have a 425hp sedan, and a 285hp compact wagon.  Chevrolet is doing great for a base model division with the Corvette, and the upcoming Camaro boosting their performance image.  Pontiac only has the 361hp G8 GT and the 260hp Solistice GXP that are doing anything to help their performance image and it shares the Solistice's performance with the Sky.

Starting price of $22,995 with only a few extra options available (LSD, sunroof, met. paint, rear wing)...not too bad GM.
