Hi all, I'm sure some of this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find much through the search function. I found out yesterday that my PCM is toast and I need a new one if I want my truck to run decent in cold weather. I figure I have 2 options. I can go to the junk yard and get a used PCM. I need to get one with the ID# 4886 661, or 4798 342. Can anyone tell me if these PCMs were used in any other Chrysler vehicles, or am I limited to first gen. Dakotas? My second option is to get a performance PCM. I've been doing some research and it looks like I can get either JET stage 1 or 2, or I can get the Mopar Performance PCM. Does anyone have experience with JET or Mopar Performance PCMs? How do you like it? Are there any drawbacks? I've heard that the JET PCMs have a habit of failing or randomly starting on fire, is this true? My truck is a 1994 SLT 3.9 4x4 with high-flow exhaust, K&N air intake, modified V8 TB, and 180* Tstat. Any info you can give me is appreciated. Thanks!

Are you saying that your truck only runs bad in cold weather. Who tested the ecu.

Yes it only runs bad in cold weather (under 40*F). I have about a dozen other posts describing the problem thorougly but in a nutshell the truck only runs bad 8 minutes after starting to about 13 minutes after starting. Then it runs great. The local Crysler dealer (who I trust very much) tested my computer and told me it was bad. I'm leaning toward the performance PCM because I don't really trust anything from the junk yard. So which one do you recommend? JET or Mopar?

I talked to the guys at the dealer and they informed me that mopar doesn't make a performance PCM for a '94 3.9. They quoted me $525 for a stock PCM. I then emailed JET and they said that their chips aren't replacement PCMs they just work with the stock PCM. So now what? Do I really have to go to a junkyard and hope I find something that works? Any other ideas? Thanks
