Default Would anyone happen to know...

The size of the fitting for the transmission line on the radiator? When I do my transmission change, I'm going to be adding an aux cooler, run after the radiator, but I need to know the size of the fitting, and as I know from when I was going to add the cooler last year, its not an NPT size thread (close, but not close enough). I'm thinking AN (which size, I don't remember what size NPT was close, so I don't know what size AN fitting it would be)

ANYWAYS, my transmission is ready for pickup! Woo hoo! I'll be doing an 800 mile, 12 hour round-trip on Monday to go pick it up (gets me out of the house, and cheaper to travel there from where I'm at than have it shipped to where I'll be doing the work). With any luck, I should be starting the work around the 5th. It'll be my first "heavy maintenance" on any vehicle.
Expect a step-by-step how-to shortly after I'm done.
The transmission I got isn't a 46RE, but itis a heavy-duty 42RE. After I get it installed and drive it for a few days, I'll let you all know what I think.
Wish me luck with my under-taking, I'll need it!

If you don't have an answer by tonight, I'll be under my truck later on after work and get that to you.. I'd check for you now, but it's kind of hard with a steel lift-off hood and one person.. hehe

Sorry for the delay, got caught up in other stuff. I don't have an AN size, but the thread is 1/4 (if that helps) I'm sure the trans is already in and driving around..

Nope, the trans is sitting in the bed of the truck (protectively wrapped, of course!) waiting for me to leave for Illinois (which, I will be leaving in about... 10 minutes!).
Thanks!

On my radiator, there are two threaded fittings. The smaller one has a "quick-disconnect" plastic tab on it, which connect to the trans tube. This threads into a larger fitting. If the larger fitting is loosened, coolant starts to come out. I haven't drained the radiator and seen what size the larger fitting is, but the smaller one is smaller than 1/4" pipe thread (almost the same size as 1/4" compression).
So, this fitting isn't available at any hardware store (not a regular pipe thread size) and auto parts store don't carry AN style fittings. Gonna have to see what I can work out... I think this transmission project will be the end of me.

Dodgerule86,
I hope this helps.
One picture is mm and the other is inches..
These adapters came with my new radiator that I replace recently.I didn'tuse them because idifferent type of fittingas well. Anyhow, the best place to buy these fitting because they are hard to find at at a place that specialize in hoses. For example, I got mine here. http://www.hose-man.com/sys-tmpl/door/ I'm not affiliate with this place, as a matter fact I wasn't happy with their service and would not recommend them.

Ona different note, I just wanted to say "thanks" for all you do with this forum. Its great.

Sean
