Just bought a 2005 Magnum R/T, and couldn't be happier--that is, until our insurance quote came in. Holy Crap!
I researched this car quite a bit before buying, but the one thing I never even thought about was the insurance on this monster. It's not breaking my budget, but it's costing me a hell of a lot more than I anticipated, and is taking some of the joy out of driving this thing. After driving a VW Beetle (my wife's car) for a couple of years, I really wanted something a little more...masculine, and always wanted a Magnum. I like the way they look, but let's get real--the only reason to buy one of these is for the HEMI power, and apparently, the insurance companies like to rape you for that small pleasure.
Any thoughts?
Michael

I have State Farm and I know they are higher than most, I'm 28 and pay $115/mo and I live in Arlington Tx. So.... I guess you will jus have to get another VW Beetle and call yourself Susan!

Lol! Fortunately, our agent called and was able to adjust our rate to just a few dollars more than we were paying for the VW! I can now enjoy my awesome ride again!
Let's see if this makes you feel any better about your insurance quote.
I was paying $530 per month due to points on my driving record.
As of 2 months ago some of the points fell off and I am now at $430 per month.
What was your quote and how is your driving record?

The initial quote was somewhere around $560, which was a shock (was paying about $320 for the VW). Our agent explained that they gave us the high estimate based solely on the vehicle, and didn't take into account our driving records and time with the company. Since I have no tickets or accidents since I've been with them, they lowered the quote down to about $360 every 6 mo.
