Default NO FUEL TO TBI!!!!! 89 Ramcharger

Well i got an 89 Ramcharger, 360, holley 2B TBI, 727 and i runs great until just recently when i went to start it and it cranks fine ad it has spark, but no fuel is getting into the throttle body. And this past weekend i changed the fuel filter. I am stumped and ive read some stuff about a fuel pump relay, and an ASD, and i would be so thankful if someone could please help me get my only vehicle running again.

When you first turn the key on you should hear the pump run,if not check the fuse, check to see if the relay is clicking,if yes to both, check for power to the pump,if yes=pump

well i changed the fuel pump and left the lines off to start and see if fuel came out and nothing, reconnected the lines and went back to it a day later. Had the girlfriend sit in it and start it while i bang on the bottom of the tank and it started, but it will sputter out and keeps doing this. Dont wanna have to drop the tank but think im gonna have to, leaning towards fuel pump replacement.

Thats odd for it to go out with out any warning, This is going to sound like a dumb question, but you didnt get the filter on backwards did you? It almost sounds like the sock at the end of the pump/sending unit is blocked up, when you bang on the tank your knocking the stuff off the end of it.

First thing...do you hear the pump run for 2 to 3 seconds when you turn the key to "on"...not "start". Yes or no?

It's possible that you have a bad pickup assembly in the distributor. This sends pulses to the computer, if the computer does not see the pulses it will shut down the ASD relay and powerto partsof the fuel and ignition system.

Did you pull error codes off the computer?
First pull the negative battery cable off for about 5 minutes and re-connect. Try to start truck and then check codes as follows...

Displaying & Reading Trouble Codes
Accessing Codes

With Check Engine Lamp

To start the function, cycle ignition switch ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON within 5 seconds and any stored fault code will appear. Check engine lamp will display the code by flashing on and off. There is a short pause between flashes and a longer pause between digits. All codes displayed are 2 digit numbers with a 4 second pause between codes. The lamp will flash until all codes are displayed then 55 (end test) will appear.

Well i dropped the tank and changed the fuel filter and did all the fun work, it was the problem and now it works, thanks for all the help and advice. Now I have a new problem, and the fuel guage wont work, stupid me. So im not gonna take the tank out again, instead i think im gonna cut a hole in the floor and pull the sending unit straight out, which is what i should have had done in the first place and was just wondering if anybody out there has every done such a thing for this kinda job??????????????????????????

Yep been there done that. 35 gallon tank full of fuel was not going to try and drop it. Just remember, most of the tanks are plastic, so be carefull how deep you cut, and watch for the cross supports when you cut. Also, remember the sending unit is farther back then you think,,,lol. Best is after you cut, go to a junk yard and cut the floor section out of a old Dodge truck bed, and trim it just a hair bigger then the hole you cut, rust proof it, seal it and screw it over the hole, so from now on it will be easy to get to your sending unit.
