Default REG CAB 2X4 QUESTIONS

GOOD DAY!</P>

Im new to the Ram world. Just purchased an '04 Regular cab, V-6 2x4 Ram and I had some questions I was hoping you guys could help me out with.</P>

1) There doesn't seem to be any lift kits out there for 2x4 Rams. Even after searching the forum! Is this true?<IMG src=smileys/smiley7.gif border="0"></P>

2)If so, what size tires will fit with these ellusive lift kits?</P>

Default REG CAB 2X4 QUESTIONS

There is just not enough market for companies to make lift kits for 2wd trucks. Most efforts in the 2wd truck arena are made for drop kits.</P>

You might look at helper springs for the rear, which might give you one or two inches, and possibly coil spacers for the front, which may be about the same lift.</P>

Would I do it if mine were a 2wd? Not on your life.</P>

With a six cylinder, I'd not try to get too large of tire. Perhaps 285/70/17 with stock wheels, but on a 2wd, that may be pushing it. Just not sure.</P><edited><editID>mazz</editID><editDate>38012.7794791667</editDate></edited>

Default REG CAB 2X4 QUESTIONS

I want to run 35" BFG'son a 15X10 rim. Couldn't I just re-gear? My v6 has as much horsepower and torque as my Bronco with 4.10 gears the 35's are just fine. Even with the stock 3.55's it was a bit sluggish at first but not that bad of a problem. So my question is, are there ring and pinion kits for my truck? Thanks for taking the time to respond.</P>

Should have bought a V8 4X4, its pointless raising a 2wd v6. Go down low man, don't waste your money on lifts kits for 2wd there is absolutely no point.

Couldn't afford it. Besides Im not gonna do any off-roading in it...I just like the way it looks. My off-roader is my 4x4 bronco.

If you decide to regear I would look hard at factory 3.92s max. While I may get some flack from some of you I would stick with factory stuff for now due to warranty issues. I have heard way too many problems with aftermarket gears grenading and screaming.

By factory, you mean going to the dealership?

Right, but wouldn't that void the warranty anyway? How does that work?

Default REG CAB 2X4 QUESTIONS

Well it's up to you hoss what is important. If the warranty is then I would recommend a dealer install ($$ OUCH!). This will cover all work and parts that were installed and leave the warranty intact. If you have a shop you trust then have them order factory gears and do install. If you order the gears then deliver them to the shop for install and something goes wrong then the gear guys blame the install and the install guys blame the gears and it becomes a mess. Keep in mind if someone other than the dealer does the install then the dealer might refuse any warranty work regarding the entire driveline if something goes haywire. The lowest (highest numerically) gearing for your rearend would be the 3.92 in factory gears and I believe this would work well for you with the size shoes you plan on bolting on. <edited><editID>nuckingfuts</editID><editDate>38020.8984259259</editDate></edited>
