Default two back brake lights not working.... Cant figure it out!! Help!

I own a 2007 Automatic frontweel drive Caliber. I recently went to a local shop that a few friends referred me to. I wanted to get a trailer hitch and electrical wired... They had said that they have done over a dozen calibers so I felt comfortable with them doing the work. I picked up the car, everything physically looked good, but the my friends driving behind me that night told me my two back side tail lights were out.... The weird thing is, the blinkers, hazards, reverse and top of back window tail light works! The ONLY two that do not work are the two back side brake lights.... I took it back to the shop they spent over and hour with three guys on it, and they could not figure it out! The bulbs we fine, but there was no power going to the lights themselves! They ended up pulling all their wiring off that they installed for the trailer hitch and I am stuck with no brake lights!!! The wanted me to take it into the dealership and just tell them that the lights went out! Does anyone out there have any idea what could have happened? Thanks! I am pretty ignorant when it comes to cars, but I dont know what else to do that wont cost me more money! Thanks!

Nate

I have read several posts similar to yours over the past 1-1/2 yrs
I have owned a Caliber and you are going to have to resort to
visit your dealership.
The Calibers electrical system is all controlled by the TIPM
(Totally Integrated Power Module) or the box under the hood
where the fuses are located,it's more than a fusebox but also
a current driven/sensing computer that now due to a overcurrent
event has chosen to shut down the brake lights.
This could be caused by poor install of trailer connect or a
non compatible wiring process.
