Battle of the American Bad Boys. We will be testing the 2008 Dodge Viper SRT-10 against the 2008 Chevy Z06 in a Top-Gear style shootout at Willow Springs in the next few weeks. What we want to know is who do you think will win and why? I know this is a Dodge community and most of you will go with the viper but please give the most elaborate reason as to why you think your choice should win.

The viper!!!!!! I think vettes or way over rated. I don't like any of them!

I think it's all on the driver. It take a really skilled driver to take a Viper to the limit were the Corvette seems to be able to do it with an just a good driver, thanks to all its electronic helpers.

I believe that the new 600hp viper is a shade faster in most categories than the Z06...the zr1 is another story.

Who is faster? The Viper. Which one will win? Depends on criteria. The common argument is that the Z06 is cheaper and that should be taken into consideration. My opinion is and always will be that comparing a Viper to a Corvette is like comparing a Cadillac STS-V to a Chrysler 300C SRT-8. The Cadillac may be better in someways particularly in the interior while being similar in performance, but the issue is most people would never compare the two because the STS is classified as a luxury car and the 300 is not. If you do not understand my point as these are both domestic, switch the Cadillac to any comparable BMW, Mercedes, Audi, etc. In my opinion, a supercar does not compete against a sports car. The Viper compared is the base model; whereas, this is a second level Vette. The base level Vette prevents it from being the equal from a Viper. My opinion is when you are comparing cars that are impractical, expensive, and its soul purpose is performance, then who ever is the fastest wins.

The new Viper has already gone 10.6 1/4 mile with 1 mod, Slicks.
Dodge tells me 205mph top speed GM is officially at 198. Thats a huge deal for the heavier and older car to be that much faster.

The OLD Z06, with it's measley 500hp, did a 10.98 1/4 mile on run flat, factory issued tires......

Then turned around and ran a 10.83 1/4 mile on drag radials.....

If 100hp and and the extra 20k only buys you an extra .2 seconds in the 1/4......why bother...

This is true and one reason I bought mine. The other reason I bought what I did, I was tired of loosing money on my toys.

As for this competition, the cars are to close, it is all about the drivers.
