Default th d backfired and died need help

I was going to my girls and was runing about 40 mph and a big boom back fired and died and that was it wouldnt start. We towed it home i started checking the basics no spark so checked the power to the coil doesnt seem to have a + signal going to it i cant find a wiring diagram that gives any detail other then the wire goes to the comp any help would be great its getting fuel i thought the timing chain had broke the d has 159,000 on it dont no if it had been replaced or not but the rotor still turns if it jumped time it should still have spark right

BBD:

Observe your tach when you try to start the engine. If it does not move or bounce a bit, then you may have lost your CPS (crank position sensor)

Try the key on key off procedure, and see if you have any trouble codes stored.

What year is your D and what engine??

BBD:

From the sound of it, I think your CPS is ok. Process for getting the codes is:

Key on, off, on, off, on..... Any stored codes should come up in your odometer window. If it says pdone, there are none stored.

I would also take a hard look at the ign coil. Seem like alot of the 5.9s have had them go belly up lately.
