Default Production Challenger released!

Well, here it is according to Allpar. Overall, still a great car but I spotted some big disappointments:

1) Concept, unique Challenger dash is gone, a re-do of Charger/Magnum dash

2) Ram air looks to be just "heat extractors" and no "butterfly" openings/K&N filtration

3) Shot does not show Pistol Grip either, but perhaps unique to 6 speed when it arrives?

"6.4 Liter version, with an estimated 500 horsepower or more"......beautiful, simply beautiful too bad i'll never be able to afford one[&:]

I agree what's with the budget grade interior?

you know, i hate to bitch about that site again, but they watermark those pictures like they had anything to do with taking them, and all they are is press kit photos, that many other sites have. also, most of their "information" is press kit literature, posted here (except i state that its from a press kit)

http://www.dodgechallenger.com/forum..._/tm.htm#24207

ill have all of the press kit photos posted somewhere soon...there are over a hundred of them.

The Challenger SRT8 was revealed at the Chicago Auto Show today.

Lots of pics on Jalopnik.

Is the new Challenger going to be much quicker than the SRT8 Charger/300C? It seems in the press release they'll have similar "targeted"0-60 and quarter mile times. Now I'm no expert, but I expected this car to be quicker by at least half a second. I sure hope it performs better. Its easily the best looking thing Dodge has right now, especially with the edition of achin fascia and rear spoiler.

with the automatic, i dont forsee it being a half second faster, stock for stock..however, i would expect a well driven manual 6.1 to be at least a half second quicker.

press kit photos..

Well, that makes me feel a little better. I Just don't understand why it is such a fat-body. Anyone else?

Not sure about the 1/2 second. It's heavier (not sure why when 4 inches shorter) and a manual adds "driver variability" though the 3:92 gears will be very helpful. We'll have to see. It also depends whether they put any de-tuned electronics in it.Either way, i suspect you'll be able to cure any ills with aftermarket help.

because dodge and ford havent figured out what GM has...not more power, less car. the z06 ha similar power to the early srt10 vipers, because the z06 is light. now, instead of putting some effort into the viper, they added more power, and now with gobs more power, its slightly faster than the z06...

the challenger must be made out of lead...it is extremely heavy.
