Great Board.

I just brought a 2008 SXT with 4,000 miles. Got the warranty and the a 1,000 rebate. Drove it home and was parked in the shopping more and heard a rattling sound I thought maybe it was the car next to mine.

Got home still heard the noise. Also notice the idle was a little ruff. So I took the car back to the dealer. Needs a new muffler and they updated the computer per chyrsler.. I am so mad right now.. Did not even have it a day to enjoy it...

Just needed to vent... Anyway glad to be about of the board will post some pic when I get it back tomorrow.

Well.. now you know why they were selling a car with 4000 miles on it lol Someone apparently bought it and didn't want it due to issues.. Always be wary when buying cars with low mileage but with high enough mileage to be considered used by someone for a short while. Well could be worse.. could have needed an engine or transmission.. at least they should fix that and that should (Hopefully) be the end of it.

That really sucks though.. I went through a few issues with my car too (And still am) and it had 0 miles on it.. it really does kill the new car buzz..

My Past issues were:
1) Multiple scratches down the side of the car due to the dealer being careless and taking off the protective plastic before it needed to be removed.. then letting an old man think he could buy the car because it wasn't in their books yet so his keys scratched the whole side of the car.. It was delivered to me like that.. Had to buff them out myself..

3) Junk left in the car on delivery, coke cans thrown on the floor, assorted garbage on the seats like food wrappers..

4) Emergency brake cable was disconnected from the rear caliper arm and sending a loud ticking sound up the cable into the center console.. Fixed that myself too.. Took a while to track down too cause the center console is no where near the rear tire.. lol(I am afraid what the dealer will do to the car if I leave it with them)

Current issues are:
1) Assorted radio issues, frequently locks up, isn't compatible with my new phone.. etc..

2) Lifter tick on startup for 2 minutes..

3) Software controlled speed limitation of 113mph (Not really an issue as its normal but it pisses me off)

4) Having to over inflate my tires in the winter to avoid the low tire pressure sensor from tripping. (Just a stupid nuisance since whenever I take it to the dealer they deflate the tires back down.. when its still within the recommended tire pressure levels)

5) Crappy paint that scratches very easily and the car wasn't fully painted in multiple spots..

These are all pretty minor but they add up and piss you off when you buy a new car expecting everything to be perfect and smooth.. But then again I didn't pay $40,000 for the car so I guess you get what you pay for.. and in comparison with a lot of other cars in its class the Avenger offers quite a lot of features that aren't offered in some more expensive cars..

Wow... I should not be complaining... Sorry to hear about that.. Yea does kill the new car buzz.. This was my first time buying a new car. I did not think much of the miles because I got the a discount, the rebate and plus the factory warranty..

So yea I guess you do get what you pay for... I just got the car back and they replaced the exhaust pipe and clamps.. The idle still seems rough and the damn noise is still coming from the muffler tail pipe.

Sounds like water bubbling but with a metallic sound to it... I could sworn I seen smoke from the hood when I stop off the light when I got off the highway. But it is foggy out so I will wait till tomorrow. If the problems are still there I am taking it back and they going to have to give me another car..

This is crazy. Should not have to go thru this with a new car even with 4,350 mile on it.
