Default Fuel Filler Neck Capacity

I know there are thousands of MPG posts, but when my light came on I drove another 30 miles. I then filled up and got a little over 12 gallons to the TOP of the filler neck. If the tank is 13.6 gallons and I put in say 12.5 gallons to the TOP of the neck, then I must have had a gallon left and then a little in the neck. What is the neck capacity? Or, total tank and neck capacity?

I have the 2.0 CVT SXT with 17,000 miles on it. I have been real light and easy on it since I won't have cruise control until today. (being installed now hopefully.) My estimate thusfar is with a full tank to the TOP of the neck at 235 miles and right on half a tank on the gauge.

Thanks for any info.

Here's a good question. When I bought my car, the salesman put in 20 dollars...about 7.25 gallons. It was 10% Ethanol. Could that contribute to a lower fuel efficiency? I have not run anything other than 87 octane since.

Hi somenothingness....In short, yes. Also, don't use anything else other than 87 Octane. The engine was designed for 87 Octane. There is no more energy in higher Octane gasolines & they are meant only for high performance engines, which Caliber engines are not. Right now, the U.S. is using lower energy winter mix gas that gives better emissions in low temperatures, but poorer MPG. Depending on where you are, higher energy summer mix gas should return in ~ a month. Till then you won'tobtain the best MPG.With v.v.ccaarreeffuull feather footing tho, the Caliber will give you better MPG than regular drivers obtain.I have good conditions to get good MPG, & my carefulfeather footing has given me an overall average of 31.4 MPG over 1 year of operation.I average 32.7 MPG on trips over 4000 foot mountain passes, & have a flat highway high of 35.6 MPG.

So feather foot. Its good for your pocketbook & your Planet Earth.

Yep, thats roughly what im getting I believe. I was creeping on fumes...turned on car and needle didnt move....and put 1.6 gallons in and the light went off and came back on 15 miles later. 28-30 mpg how i drive. so, if i went 55 mph to and from work itd be 30-32 i think. overall, i am greatly satisfied with this car. also, i pumped till the handle clicked and it stopped at 12.6 gallons and 33 dollars. so i must have had another gallon in there. i estimate 45 miles from the time the light comes on till i run out of gas. some say there is 2 gallons at the showing of the gas light, and there may be if you drive 50-55 mph. but at 375 miles i am lookinf for gas. thanks all.
