hi heres my new dodge ram 1500.......this will be my 6th dodge vehicle............my fourth dodge truck
i traded in my srt-4 for it..  im loving it so far rides like a caddy compared to the srt-4
and the v-6 auto with 3.55 gears does me just fine..........it has satelite radio.......and ive already ordered shackles to lower the rear

does anyone know how much the steel rims weigh?

nice looking truck.  what are your plans?  yesterday I traded in my 2003 quad cab 5.9 liter for a 2005 v6.  I think after I get a few things done I'll be just as happy with this truck as my last.  It definetely ride and handles better.    I haven't seen much on here as far as upgrades and stuff.  I'm definetely going to be putting a system in it, and install carpet and a remote starter and keyless entry system.  that will probably be all for awhile.

hi i got the shackles from stylin trucks

there not hard to put on....as i remember you got to get the rear end up on jack stands
then put a hydro jack under the rear end pumpkin

once the tires are off the ground most of the tension is off the leaf springs...........remove the stock rear shackle knock the bolt out.being carefull as the leaf spring may have a little tention on it....then install the new shackle........tighten the bolts only after the truck is under load

i also had a 97 dodge ram sport 318....... i plan on geting front and rear sway bars first......the truck has too much body roll
then maybe some new shocks...the stock ones have alot of bounce....then maybe some rims.18inch or 17.......im not going any bigger on rims alot of added weight.....tint the windows...........and i would like to do the stereo up too......but i would hate too loose the siruis radio

thanks for the comment

it really depends on the dealer.....my old dodge had tranny problems.and  i lowered it before taking it to get fixed. a 2/4 drop
the dealer said they would fix the tranny under warrenty but i had to allow them to shorten the driveshaft which i had to pay for

lowering the rear with shackles only allows 2 inchs of drop so i dont think it would be a problem

update i took the chrome mirror covers and door handle covers off.....somebody keyed the whole passenger side:( i got it fixed..the paint place did a good enough job that i wont take it back but ill never use them again..they wet your vehicle down before you pick it up so you cant see any of there boo boo's

i bought some 18inch boss rims which im wanting to sell but if i dont get them sold im going to buy tires...then lower the truck 2/4

FYI I have shakles on my truck and dodge didn't say any thing when I took it in for warenty but they squeak really bad . How ever I think I'm about to drop the whole truck two in the front and three in the rear hope it'll look as good as it does in my head. LOL

hey i dont miss the srt-4 all that much maybe the gas milage and i had it looking cool

driving the srt-4 normally without geting into boost it was slow to me
yet it always sounded like i was pushing it due to the loud exhaust
yet every car on the road would pass me. (without geting into boost)
1 gear was almost useless

second gear on up it was a blast but i didnt use the boost much .and im proud to say over two years of owning it.. i didnt get any tickets
