I have a 90 daytona with the 3.0.  It has been hard starting.  I replaced cap, rotor, and wires and that helped alot.  However, after I replaced those it started dying.  It started out dying while driving, and then igniting itself and be fine.  Then it went to totally dying, i'd have to pull over, and then it'd start back up.  Now, it dies, and I can't start it; it has to sit, and then it'll start back up, and run for awhile until it just dies again.

When doing testing for the hard starting, we messed with the optical pick up coil insdie the distributor.  Yesterday, I did flash diagnostics and found a code 11, which is no cam/crank sensor while cranking (generically), which leads me to assume that that coil is the culprit of my problems, but I don't understand why I can get it to start back up after the car sits for awhile, but it wont start back up right away anymore.  I'm trying to make some corrolations.  Any thoughts?

My buddies Daytona- which is now my Daytona- had the same problem. Did exactly the same thing you describe. Found out that the sensor had an "open" after it warmed up to a certain temp, causing the engine to quit. Let the car sit, the engine and sensor cool- no more open, and the car starts and runs until it hits that magic temperature again. Coil ain't attached to the sensor btw...

well, i think that theory is gone.  I just checked for spark and I dont' appear to have any.  So here we go allll over again?

How often to the PCM's go out?  Can a PCM from another 3.0 be put it in since its obd I?  Or do you have to get a brand new one and get in VIN written?
