Glass Pack 97 Dakota Sport

I have a 97 Dakota Sport with a 3.9L. I want to put a cherry bomb glass pack on it. Someone told me I couldn't cut it off to straight headers because it's too new because of the Cats and the 02 Sensors. Would I just cut off the muffler and replace it with the glass pack?

If you just replaced your stock muffler with the cherry bomb it would be louder than it was stock, but not as loud as it could be without the cats. It all depends on what you want and what your state laws are. If you ran cherry bombs straight off of your headers.....your neighbors might not like you too much in the mornings.[8D]

dont put a cherry bomb on your truck. I once made the mistake of cutting off my stock muffler and replacing it with the same length cherry bomb glasspack. It was the most disgusting noise I've ever heard. I had to deal with it for like 2 months. You wouldve thought I was driving a 1986 honda civic the way it sounded. I replaced it with a dynomax 3" catback and now it sounds pretty good... as good as a v-6 can get anyway. glasspacks are for v-8's, dont waste your time and look stupid. not to mention it will rot off within a year.

i cut the cat and muffler off and replaced it with the longer glasspack.... its not that loud. I dont really like the sound though. Im trying to figure out what i want to do now...i was thinkin of a super 44 single inlet dual outlet to a set of 4 x 24 inch tips but i dont know yet. i want something that really rumbles but gets loud.

i got the 5.2L

i would suggest thinking about some other mufflers like flowmaster or magnaflow but if your on a tight buget then do the glasspack, its definatly cheap.

Yah I also have a Thrush glasspack, I really used to like the sound of it, but now I am entirely bored of it. I am going to put a magnaflow or flowmaster on it soon. Glass packs have a some what nice sound at higher RPM's, and are cheap, but if you want something to really rumble get something else.
