[those arethe best pictures I can find... screen shots from the movie]</P>

The Dodge Turbo Interceptor pace car built by Chrysler and PPG Industries for $1.5 million. It was used in a movie called "The Wraith." Filmed in outside of Tuscon, Arizona, in 1986, stared Charlie Sheen and Nick Cassavettes. There were six copies of the car that were built for the movie. The car was rear-wheel-drive, power by a 2.2L Cosworth twin-turbo in-line four. This car was written about in a book called "dream cars" several years back. These cars were powered by a 2.2 liter, twin intercooled turbo, dohc, pumping out a supposed 440 horsepower!!!

Cool - and thanks... Just found this site (while searching for this car actually). Good luck to the guy making one. My current projects are a built engine swap for the wifes sunbird and my future project is my 85 Laser with a built 3.0. Nothing major...

Those 2.2's are well built bullet proof engines. I remember the Chrysler TC Maserati's using a turbo 2.2 engine with lotus 4 valve heads putting out 225 HP.

I would love to see Chrsyler bring back the 2.2's as a replacement to the 2.4's but doubt that will happen as the 2.4 is part of the world engines made for multiple automakers. But maybe Dodge may make a new line of small sports cars using purely dodge mechanics and technology and stick in that 2.2! :D

I am a 2.2 nut as well , I have killed many Dodges but never ths engine. I have a Daytona 2.2 turbo 2 and I love this motor, but the Shelby has fallen to pieces(what a shame) I would love to build an Wraith car of my own . Dare to dream. PV.

From what I understood, the current 2.0L/2.4L DOHCs were supposed to be based off of the 2.2/2.5L SOHC with Mitsubishi heads. I agree that I would like to see the replacement for the 2.4L be a 100% Chrysler design (not Mitsubishi or Hyndaui). Here is what I would make if I was in charge. Take this engine http://www.valiant.org/ausval.html and chop off two cylinders just like they did with the 5.2L (318) and 4.7L SOHC, add dual spark plugs per cylinder to meet emission standards, fuel inject it, and start putting it in the car line up.
