Default wiring 79 pwr wgn

So i have this problem i hear is common with these old trucks , amp gauge melts and smokes in the dash , and heater fuse melts in the dash . I had a 77 with theSAME problems and it went up in flames shortly after i sold it , hopefully i dont have to watch this one do the same ...

I have disconnected the amp gauge and rerouted it down to my after market gauges , which still seems to get real hot at times . I have been afraid of messing with the heater too much . Is it as easy as just rerouting the wires and installing a different fuse down under by my gauges where i can get it easier ?

or does my problem start elsewhere ?

thanks for any info !
